Admission Requirement & Eligibility Criteria

Introduction

In its admission, Nile University follows the general rules and guidelines set by the Office of Admission – Ministry of Higher Education.

Criteria for the main certificates accepted are listed below:

For Ungraduates

Applicants have to submit certificates of 8 subjects at the O-Level with a minimum grade of “C” (these may only be in the extended and not in the core system). Subjects must be completed in the four years before university enrollment. Applicants who have completed advanced-level subjects may be granted transfer credits.

• Business school: Minimum of 8 O-Level subjects including English and Maths with a minimum score of C.
• Biotechnology school: Minimum of 8 O-Level subjects including English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology with a minimum score of C.
• Engineering and Computer Science school:  Minimum of 8 O-Level subjects including English, Maths, Physics, and Chemistry with a minimum score of C and one subject only AS or AL Math course is required with a minimum score of D.

Nile University considers the admission of a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 (on a scale of 4.0).Students who have scored high on Advanced Placement (AP) courses may be granted transfer credits.
The score mentioned below might be subject to change as per the Ministry of Higher Education and the SCU instructions.
• Business School: 8 subjects from GPA certificate including English and Maths, along with EST 1 with a minimum score of 800.
• Biotechnology school: 8 subjects from GPA certificate including English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology along with EST 1 with a minimum score of 800.
• Engineering and Computer Science school: 8 subjects from GPA certificate including English, Maths, Physics, and Chemistry, along with SAT 1 with a minimum score of 800 and EST 2 with a minimum score of 900.

Academic and Non- Academic requirements:

• Official American Diploma (Grade 10, 11 and 12) stamped by American Diploma Accreditation Associates and General Educational Examination (الادارة العامة للامتحانات) for schools inside of Egypt. •If the student spends grades 10, 11, 12 in 3 different schools, they should bring a transcript for each grade separately stamped by the General Examinations Department.
 
If the school is outside of Egypt, the transcript should be stamped by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Egyptian Embassy.
 

  • • AMIDEAST letter of accreditation for schools outside of Egypt only and schools inside of Egypt, an equivalency certificate is required             (افادة التعليم الخاص بمعادلة المدرسة).
  • EST 1 and EST II stamped by General Examination Department or EST stamped by the General Examination Department.
  • Arabic and Religion if taken stamped by General Examinations Department.
  • College board username and password.
  • Proof of 12 years of schooling stamped by the Educational Administration.
  • Original birth certificate (computerized).
  • Copy of the Egyptian national ID.
  • Copy of passport (optional for Egyptians and required for non-Egyptian applicants).
  • 6 passport size photos.
  • Military Form 2 and 6 (Males only).

 
English Requirements:

  • A score of 61 or above in the IBT taken at Amideast (Address: 38 Mohie El Din Abu El Ezz, Hotline: 19263).
  • A score of 500 or above in the ITP taken at Amideast and achieve a minimum score of 70 in NU writing Exam. (This exam is not available this semester).
  • A score of 6 or above in the IELTS taken at the British Council (Address: Agouza or Nile University, Hotline: 19789).
  • A grade of B2 or above in Nile University placement exam (Oxford) taken online (fees 200 EGP).

*Note that the Architecture program requires the following: 1-An English II level in IELTS and IBT exam.
2-An interview with the program director after passing the Oxford exam.
 

 For Transferred students in addition to the above:

  • Original withdrawal letter (for private universities only).
  • Course description signed and stamped from the previous university.
  • Transcript stamped from the University and the Supreme Council of Universities.
  • "Bayan hala" stamped from your previous university.
  • For School of Business Administration: The school accepts the 3 general secondary certificates “Thanwya Amma” tracks: Literary “Adabi”, Science “Olum” and Science/Mathematics “Reyada”.
  • For  School of Biotechnology: The school accepts students who took the Scientific “Olum” general secondary track.
  • For School of Engineering and Applied Sciences: The school accepts students who took the Mathematics “Reyada” secondary track.
  • For School of Information Technology and Computer Science: The school accepts the 2 general secondary tracks: Science “Olum” and Mathematics“Reyada”.

Applicant should have completed the Baccalaureate diploma degree and satisfied its general requirements. Transfer credit may be granted. Students should have 6 subjects, following these roles: 3 subjects at a higher level and 3 subjects at a standard level.


For Engineering and ITCS majors: Math and Physics at a higher level are required.
For Biotechnology majors: Chemistry and Physics at a higher level are required.
For Business majors: any 3 subjects at a higher level plus the standard level.


N.B. Students should have passed the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge subjects.

 

 

Nile University accepts admission of applicants with a minimum average of 4.0. Transfer credits may be granted. For Engineering and ITCS majors, English, math, physics, and chemistry are required.
Students should have 7 subjects in G12 and G11. Following these roles. at least 3 subjects in Advanced level.

 

The final grade is calculated out of 440 for the Scientific section and 420 for the Arts section, noting that the total score is calculated after removing the religious subjects as well. 

 

The final grade is calculated out of 700.
The accepted section for Engineering, ITCS, and Biotechnology schools is the scientific section (علمي), and for BBA school, the art (أدبي) or the scientific section (علمي). 

For Stem 2020/2021

For Engineering and Information Technology and Computer Majors:

Students should have 7 subjects in L1 including English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and Arabic along with 2 subjects in L2 which is Math and Chemistry or physics; or, it can be replaced by Math in L3 ( instead of L2 subjects ).

For Biotechnology Majors:

Students are required to have 7 L1 including English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Arabic.

For Business Majors:

The applicant is required to have 7 L1 including English, Maths, and Arabic.

 

 

For Engineering and ITCS Majors: English, Maths, Physics, and Chemistry are required. Math is required in both G11 and G12. For Business Major: English and Maths are required.
For Biotechnology Major: English Math, Biology. Biology is required in both G11 and G12.

 

N.B: For other certificates from other countries, Nile University follows the general rules set by the Ministry of Higher Education. Also, Nile University accepts applicants with a minimum score which is subject to change each year upon the Supreme Council of Private and Ahleya Universities' decision, it’s changeable upon every year's admission.

 

Acceptance Test:

All applying students are required to show proof of English proficiency by achieving the level indicated in one of three testing alternatives below: A score of 61 or above in the IBT (http://www.ets.org/portal/site/ets/menuitem).
A score of 6 or above in the IELTS (http://www.britishcouncil.org/egypt-exams-english-exams-ielts.htm).
A score of B2 or above in the Oxford exam (no retakes for this exam).

For Postgraduates

  • Original of all Bachelor Certificates. Original of all university-level transcripts.
  • Original Equivalent Certificate (for private university graduates only).
  • Personal statement.
  • Recent Resume (CV).
  • Copy of National ID or Passport.
  • Four recent passport-size photographs.
  • Three recommendation letters.

For English:

  • A score of 61 or above in IBT (AMIDEAST). A score of 500 or above in ITP (Institutional TOEFL) administered by AMIDEAST.   
  • A score of 6 or above in IELTS is administered by the British Council.

N.B:

  • For M.Sc. MOT: IB TOEFL 79.00 and above with 24 and above for writing or IELTS 6.50 and above with 6.50 and above for writing. 

 

  • Original of Master's degree certificate. Retrieving data. Original of Master's degree transcript.
  • Original of all university-level degrees (Bachelor).
  • Original of all university transcripts (Bachelor).
  • Original Equivalent Certificate for both Bachelor's and Master's degrees if from private universities or universities outside Egypt.
  • Personal Statement.
  • Recent Resume (CV).
  • Copy of National ID or Passport.
  • Four recent passport-size photographs.
  • Three recommendation letters.

For English:

  • A score of 61 or above in IBT (AMIDEAST). A score of 500 or above in ITP (Institutional TOEFL) administered by AMIDEAST.      
  • A score of 6 or above in IELTS is administered by the British Council.

N.B:
​For the Ph.D. MOT: IB TOEFL from 94 and above, with 27 and above for writing, or IELTS from 7.50 and above with 7.00 and above for writing.
