Nile University Participates in World Intellectual Property Day Under the Theme “IP and the SDGs: Building Our Common Future with Innovation and Creativity”
In celebration of World Intellectual Property Day, Nile University proudly took part in a distinguished event held under the global theme “IP and the SDGs: Building Our Common Future with Innovation and Creativity.” The event was organized through a collaborative effort between the Faculty of Mass Communication at Cairo University, the Egyptian Intellectual Property Authority, the Arab Federation for Intellectual Property, Nile University, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Media Authority, and the Society of Authors, Composers, and Publishers.
Representing Nile University at the event was Dr. Hebatallah Kaoud, Director of the Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Office at Nile University and a faculty member at the Graduate School of Management of Technology. Dr. Kaoud delivered a comprehensive lecture covering critical topics such as technology management, intellectual property rights, mechanisms of technology transfer, and the growing legal challenges posed by artificial intelligence in the field of intellectual property.
In her remarks, Dr. Kaoud emphasized that Nile University places great importance on intellectual property as a key pillar in supporting scientific research and innovation. Through its Technology Transfer Office, the university aims to raise awareness among researchers and innovators about their rights and to encourage the protection of intellectual output in alignment with rapid technological advancements.
In recognition of her significant contributions to promoting a culture of intellectual property respect, Dr. Kaoud was honored during the event. She was celebrated for her impactful role in fostering a generation of creative minds capable of innovation and societal development, rather than imitation and repetition.
The event also featured a panel of prominent experts and specialists, including Dr. Hesham Azmy, President of the Egyptian Intellectual Property Authority, who discussed the National IP Strategy and the role of media in its implementation; Dr. Osama El-Bitar, Secretary General of the Arab Federation for Intellectual Property, who reviewed relevant Arab agreements and regional legislation; Mr. Fawzy Ibrahim, Secretary General of the Society of Authors, Composers, and Publishers, who explored how IP protection supports creativity; and Dr. Abdallah Nour El-Din, member of the Intellectual Property Protection Committee at the Supreme Council of Culture, who highlighted current legal issues and judicial practices.
Dr. Kaoud also expressed her pleasure at meeting with Dr. Iman Taher and Dr. Ahmed Rahmeh, the supervisors of the “Copyright Project,” commending their efforts in raising student and academic awareness about the importance of protecting intellectual property rights.
