GIG Program Reaches Upper Egypt ... Freelancing Opportunities for Youth
Nile University’s Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competitiveness Center (IECC), in partnership with Banque Misr Foundation for Community Development and regional Creativa hubs, has brought the GIG program to Aswan and Qena — and the Gig Skill Boost Ramadan intake launched with more than 400 participants in Week 1.
The IECC-led outreach to Upper Egypt connected directly with youth in Creativa Aswan and Creativa Qena through high-impact awareness sessions designed to introduce GIG and open pathways into digital freelancing. Our teams met local young people, explained the program, guided them through registration, and built excitement for the practical courses ahead. This expansion is part of a broader partnership with the Technology Innovation & Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC) at ITIDA and strengthens GIG’s capacity to deliver training that creates new income streams, reduces unemployment, and supports sustainable online careers across the region.
GIG Week 1 highlights — hands-on from day one
More than 400 participants chose to spend Ramadan developing market-ready skills. Under IECC facilitation, the first week focused on active, workshop-driven learning rather than passive lectures. Each track produced tangible outputs and immediate practice:
-
Front-End Development: Participants coded from basic HTML to building real web pages by the end of the session.
-
Customer Success: Sessions emphasized customer service as a craft and taught active listening as the key to resolving client issues.
-
Business Development & Sales: Learners mapped B2B vs. B2C approaches and sketched Ideal Customer Profiles for future clients.
-
Mobile Development: Trainees explored React Native and cross-platform techniques to speed up product delivery.
-
UI/UX: Discovery-phase methods were taught to ensure design starts by asking the right questions—not just choosing visuals.
-
Digital Marketing: Participants learned digital branding fundamentals and how to use social media effectively to reach customers.
Week 1 momentum shows that bringing GIG to Upper Egypt is already creating local awareness and practical capacity for freelancing careers. IECC will continue to support the program rollout — providing coaching, follow-up, and connections to further resources and industry partners. Upcoming weeks will deepen technical tracks, deliver capstone projects, and connect high-potential participants with opportunities to earn and scale online work.
