Manager, Ecosystem & Business Development
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Manager of Ecosystem & Business Development to lead fund-raising and the acquisition of large-scale projects, grants, and partnerships. The role combines a results-driven business development mandate with the relationship-building needed to cultivate a strong ecosystem of funders, corporates, public agencies, and partners.
The successful candidate will own the funding pipeline end to end — from identifying and qualifying opportunities, through proposal development, to closing and handover for delivery — while diversifying funding sources and improving conversion. This is a senior, outcomes-focused role for someone who can both open doors and close deals.
Job Responsibilities:
Business development & fund-raising
- Identify, qualify, and pursue funding opportunities including grants, contracts, sponsorships, and large-scale projects.
- Own the business development pipeline: opportunity qualification, proposal development, negotiation, and closing.
- Lead the preparation of high-quality proposals, budgets, and submissions in coordination with technical and delivery teams.
- Improve win rates by introducing disciplined qualification and structured win/loss analysis.
Ecosystem & partnership development
- Build and maintain strong, ongoing relationships with funders, corporates, development agencies, and partner organizations.
- Cultivate relationships ahead of specific opportunities so the pipeline is fed by warm, qualified leads rather than cold bids.
- Represent the organization with external stakeholders and position it as a credible, high-value partner.
Funding strategy & diversification
- Develop and execute a funding strategy that diversifies sources and reduces dependence on any single funder or funding type.
- Design blended funding models that combine grants, sponsorship, contracts, and recurring revenue where appropriate.
- Track market trends, funding calls, and partner priorities to inform pipeline and positioning.
Coordination & reporting
- Work closely with delivery, finance, and program teams to ensure commitments made in proposals are credible and deliverable.
- Maintain accurate pipeline data and provide regular reporting and forecasts to leadership.
- Contribute to organizational strategy as part of the management team.
Job Requirements:
Required
- 7–10 years of experience in business development, fund-raising, partnerships, or a closely related field.
- A demonstrable track record of closing grants, contracts, or large-scale projects — not only writing proposals.
- Proven experience winning individual deals in the multi-million EGP range (typically 5M–50M+ EGP), with a cumulative portfolio of secured funding to demonstrate consistency.
- Candidates should be able to evidence specific deals won — size, funder, and their personal role in closing.
- Existing relationships across a relevant funder ecosystem (e.g. development agencies, corporates, public bodies, sponsors).
- Strong proposal writing, budgeting, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related field.
Preferred
- Experience in innovation hubs, universities, venture-building, or development / grant-funded environments.
- Familiarity with CRM and pipeline management tools.
- A relevant postgraduate qualification (e.g. MBA).
Key Competencies
- Results orientation and ownership of outcomes.
- Relationship building and influence.
- Strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
- Commercial acumen and financial literacy.
- Resilience and persistence in a long sales-cycle environment.
How Success Is Measured
- Funds and projects secured against agreed targets.
- Value and size of deals closed.
- Proposal win / acceptance rate.
- Diversification of the funding base.
- Health of the pipeline (qualified value and conversion).
- Strength and growth of the partner and funder network.
