Biography

Dr. Amr Farouk Abdelkhalik is the Dean of School of Biotechnology at Nile University with extensive contributions to agricultural research, technology transfer, and scientific policy development in Egypt and across Africa. He earned his PhD in Plant Genetics from Nihon University in Japan in 2005 and was promoted to Full Professor at the Rice Research Department of the Egyptian Agricultural Research Center in 2016.

In 2008, Dr. Abdelkhalik was appointed Advisor to the Minister of Scientific Research, where he contributed to shaping national strategies for scientific advancement. In February 2011, he joined the Ministry of Agriculture as Head of the COMESA Office in Cairo, leading the development of strategic frameworks to strengthen agricultural cooperation with African countries.

In August 2012, Dr. Abdelkhalik was appointed Assistant to the President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT), overseeing knowledge-based SMEs, Technology Transfer Offices, industry partnerships, entrepreneurship initiatives, and technology commercialization programs.

From May 2014 to October 2016, he served as Supervisor of the Regional Research Centers and Manager of National Campaigns and Initiatives at ASRT. During this period, Dr. Abdelkhalik led several major national initiatives to support the production of strategic crops in Egypt, including wheat, maize, rice, and cotton.
