Dr. Menna Tawfik

Dr. Menna Tawfik is an academic and urban researcher specializing in sustainable urbanism, urban regeneration, and hybrid architecture. Her research explores how cities can achieve greater resilience, social cohesion, and environmental sustainability, with a focus on retrofitting urban sprawl, revitalizing open and public spaces, and rebuilding socio-spatial structures for resilient, cohesive communities. 

She holds a Ph.D. in Urban Design and Communities Development from Cairo University (2022), with a dissertation on re-configuring the socio-spatial structure of new communities toward social sustainability, along with a B.Sc. (2010) and M.Sc. (2015) in Architectural Engineering, also from Cairo University. 

She spent nine years as an instructor in the Architecture and Urban Design Program at the German University in Cairo, and has taught and supervised design workshops at partner institutions in Germany and Barcelona. Her work is published in high-impact journals and international conference proceedings, addressing urban transformation, community revitalization, and the future of sustainable, adaptive cities.
